Tea is a name given to a plant that can be dried, brewed in hot or cold water and drank. I am not going to focus on just tea in general but the ones that aid good health and boost weight-lost.
The type of tea that boosts weight-lost are few though they come on various brand names, but the
common thing about them is that they are grown in the asian continent.
Teas have become the rage in weight loss over the years due to scientific research and its wonderful health benefits.
Health benefits of Tea
Teas from the camellia sinensis plant have EGCG and as a result, have a staggering number of health benefits. Among the top benefits are; prevents strokes, tooth decay, Arthritis, reduces cardiovascular risks and prevents Cancer. It is also known as ‘nature’s tranquillizer’ for its soothing properties. Researchers have looked into the natural components of tea and had found a compound known as polyhenol. Along with its caffeine content, it helps to burn fat faster. You could burn an average of 2.9 pounds in 12weeks while still maintaining your normal diet and not exercising.
Teas come in different brands, quality and packaging. We have the; Black tea, Green tea, White tea, Oolong tea, Organic tea, Herbal tea, flowering tea, Puerh tea, and Rooibos tea. Generally they are all effective, but it takes proper preparation consistency in drinking to render it so.
Though teas have various health benefits, they also have some dangerous health effect. 

Health drawback of Tea
The health drawback of tea are few and there have been few reported incidence of it happening. Its only when taken in extreme excess that any health issue rises. Before you indulge in anything, its advisable you know its downside.
Caffeine
Tea has theanine  and caffeine though in very low quantity, especially when compared to coffee. It has approximately between 30mg and 90mg per 250ml cup depending on the brand, type and method of brewing. Research has studied its effect and shows that it may not lead to any health issue aside from the side effect of alertness, jitteriness and anxiety which occurs when taken in excess.
People with the following should avoid caffeine in excess; Anxiety, Bleeding disorders, Diabetes, Irritable bowel syndrome, Glaucoma, High blood pressure and Osteoporosis.
Pregnant women should limit their tea intake to three cups per day.
Floride
Some teas may contain fluoride, especially if machined harvested so it’s advisable to go for hand harvested teas. 
Oxalate
Teas contain some amount of oxalate. Oxalates are colorless poisonous acid. Overconsumption of tea can result in kidney stones.
It has also been advice that when drinking certain teas, care should be taken when you are on other form of medications that contain other stimulants such as amphetamines and also avoid caffeine when you are taking blood thinning meds or herbs that slows down blood such as ginger, garlic etc.
So it is beneficial that whatever you do, you do it in moderation. Moderation is the key.
